The Alondra Blvd. Church of Christ strives to be a church that is Christ-centered, people-focused, and Bible-based. Our mission is changing lives to become like Christ. Our fundamental understanding of who God is and what He expects from us comes from the Bible. We believe that the Bible is much more than an instruction book. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and was designed by Him to develop our relationship with God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit.
By calling ourselves Christians, we center our lives on Jesus the Christ. We believe that He is the incarnate Son of God who gave His life to rebuild our relationship with the Father. He is the unique human-and divine bridge who gives us a new way of life.
People-focused means that people and their spiritual needs are very important to us. We believe that everyone who visits us has been led by God, for a good reason, to be present.
The Vision of the Alondra Blvd. Church of Christ is to see members of this church fully equipped and developed as followers of Christ. We have embraced six biblical purposes as measurements for each Christian's growth.
After we have made contact with people (as Andrew did in John 1), we invite them to join us in these purposes.
The first purpose is to be Changed into a Disciple. This is exemplified in Acts 2, when all the believers were called to repent and be
baptized for the forgiveness of their sins.
The second purpose is to be Connected to a local body of believers. In Colossians 3 we find the expression, "Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony." (V. 14)
The third purpose is to be Called into service. We have all been gifted in many ways (see Ephesians 4) with the goal of serving one another and our community.
The fourth purpose of the Alondra Blvd. Church of Christ is to be Consecrated in the Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5 commands us to "Keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. " We are directed to live out the Spirit's presence in our lifestyle and devotion to God.
The fifth purpose is to be Commissioned to lead. Everyone of us exerts influence, and we need to be disciplined in the faith so that the influence we exert is godly. (See Acts 6).
The sixth purpose is to be Charged to witness for Christ. One day the Lord will ask us to give an account of our life (Matthew 7) his main question will be "Did you do God's will for your lives?"
Our goal in these purposes is to fulfill Romans 8:29 - For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters. That's our mission, to change lives to become like Christ.
